How It All Began

On May 3rd 1974 my mother and father (Bev and Skip Ipsen) opened Skipolini’s Pizza in Clayton California. The first restaurant was once a residence that was later occupied by [+]the Clayton post office and a craft store. My mother and father founded the restaurant on a very simple credo; Provide high quality food in a unique, family friendly environment, at affordable prices. The success of the restaurant over the past three decades has been largely attributed to our steadfast commitment to this business philosophy. Mylapore is synonymous with the famous Kapaleeshwarar temple, Rangoli festivals, Music Clubs, Raasi Silks, Sukra Jewelry (most recently) and great inexpensive eateries serving mouth watering food. We are also reminded of [+]the expansive vegetable market near the Mylapore tank and The Mylapore Club which till date is the only vegetarian club in Chennai that refuses to serve alcohol unlike its counterparts Gymkhana Club and Cosmopolitan Club.

Mylapore is a South Indian Vegetarian Restaurant where the emphasis is on freshness and quality. Authentic South Indian cuisine and a casual atmosphere come together at Mylapore. Spiced to tantalize and priced just right, Mylapore is the perfect place for a casual affordable meal, be it a work day or a weekend get together. Lighter, occasionally spicier, and more varied in flavors than the cuisines of other parts of India, we serve over 25 varieties of dosas and Uthapams. We also serve traditional South Indian Thali food the contents of which change everyday depending on what is available fresh in our local Farmer's Market.
