Since 1987, Original Pete's Restaurants have been serving great food to the greater Sacramento area. In 2006, we partnered with Firestone Walker Brewery [+]and created our handcrafted brews and we opened Pete's Restaurant & Brewhouse. Our award-winning pizza is still hand tossed and our dough is still made fresh daily. Our menu has grown to include mouth-watering pastas, oven-baked sandwiches, fresh salads and our 1/2 pound all-natural beef hamburgers. Our family gatherings and special moments have been always accompanied with amazing food. Our carne asadas (what we called having a BBQ) brings family and friends together and I wanted to create an environment where I could share moments like [+]this with others.

Fast forward to 2008; I was blessed with an opportunity to purchase a restaurant in South Natomas. My family and friends, business partners, and our cooks, we worked day and night getting Mezcal ready and creating recipes for our new menu. We were all exhausted, but excited to share our family and new recipes with everyone. I wanted to create a space where everyone can feel like a guest in my home.

We opened our doors on March 9th in 2009 and we have been blessed by all of the community support and patronage.

Our Food
Mexican food and its techniques are rich in history with influences from the Mayans, the Aztecs, and other Pre-Hispanic cultures. Later on the Spanish and other Europeans brought new crops, stock, and influences. Nowadays Mexican food is diverse and ever evolving. Each state and region have their own techniques and flavors. Here at Mezcal Grill we offer dishes that offer a little bit of everything from all 32 states. For example we bring you carnitas just like our family has been doing them in the state of Michoacan; techniques from the states of Jalisco and Guanajuato, and flavors from the states of Veracruz and Sinaloa. And of course let's not forget about our Tex-Mex and Californian influences.

All of our produce, ingredients, and merchandise are sourced from local growers and vendors. We believe local communities flourish by supporting each other. [-]

Represents the bountiful harvest California has to offer and the proud Sacramento history we continue to shape today. We [+]love our city, and we love our state.

While looking into Sacramento’s past, we found that the Industrial Revolution was a fundamental time of change in the region. Steam boats pumped up and down the Sacramento River, and the Nation’s first Transcontinental Railroad was nearing completion. This period of bustling commerce and innovation helped lay the foundation of our city. During the year of 1850, a series of fires destroyed much of the city of Sacramento.
