Queen Sheba, a charming Ethiopian restaurant on Broadway @17th.
ALL YOU CAN EAT LUNCH BUFFET
VEGETARIAN & VEGAN
Queen Sheba, a charming Ethiopian restaurant on Broadway @17th. Ethiopian food is more communal than almost any other type of ethnic food. The hallmark of Ethiopian cuisine [+]consists of sharing food on one giant plate and using enjera a spongy, sour, pliable flat bread to scoop up the various shared dishes. enjera is the common thread of almost every meal for Ethiopia’s middle and upper classes. Prepared much as it was 1,000 years ago, enjera is both an eating utensil and a palette for other foods to lie on. It lines the giant plate, soaking up the sauces and spices of the various dishes piled on top. The eating of this lining or “tablecloth” signifies that the meal is officially over, completing the communal Ethiopian dining experience. "Subscribers Choice Awards" Zion Taddese and her brother Eskinder opened Queen Sheba Restaurant on Howe Avenue in August of 2003 and have recently move their location to 1704 Broadway downtown Sacramento which is a larger restaurant that allows them to serve more customers. Together, the siblings offer friendly and attentive service along with spicy, flavorful dishes that follow the traditions of Ethiopian dining. You can enjoy, the famed honey wine, tej, which Ethiopians often make themselves, with a unique taste that complements the spices in the food. Combination plates on the menu, allow you to sample different dishes arranged symmetrically on a giant plate. Dishes such as Gomen, a dish of cooked spinach, collard greens, onions and garlic. Gomen may remind you of collards in soul-food cooking. Then experience, miser kik wot (wot meaning “stew”), a satisfying, mild-flavored dish made with lentils and spices. In the combination you will find two similar-tasting dishes, doro wot and gored gored. Doro wot is a popular dish with chicken leg and hard-boiled egg, served on a dark bed of simmered vegetables and spices. It has the color, consistency and heat of a fiery chili. Doro wot is of the chicken family, the gored gored has cubes of beef in a similar mixture, spiced in Ethiopian fashion, with berbere. Berbere, a mix of at least a dozen spices, including paprika, ginger, cardamom, hot chilies and turmeric, giving Ethiopian foods their distinct flavors.
In addition to these we have many Vegetarian and Vegan dishes for you to enjoy. You'll end your dining experience eating the large “tablecloth” Enjera, which is soaked with the sauces and spices of the various dishes. Finish with coffee, coffee drinking has a great significance in Ethiopia. Ceremonial in nature, beans are freshly roasted, ground and brewed and then served in tiny cups with sugar but no milk. Drink three cupfuls for a blessing. The flavors and customs of Ethiopian dining will provide you with the experience of food from the "cradle of civilization". [-] Categories:

How it all began....
Morton's actually exists today because of...hamburgers! Years ago, before co-founders Arnie Morton and Klaus Fritsch really knew one another, they both worked at the Playboy Club in Montreal. The club was changing the menu, and Klaus cooked a hamburger that was sent out for Arnie to try. Arnie burst into the kitchen, demanding to know "Who cooked that hamburger?"
When Klaus stepped forward, he wasn't sure if Arnie was going to be pleased or not but was relieved to hear him say that it was the best he'd ever tasted. From that day forward, they called it the "Million-Dollar Hamburger"!
More than 3 decades later....
Morton's has grown to over 74 restaurants, but the vision is the same today as it was when we opened our first restaurant in Chicago in 1978. Quality. Consistency. Genuine Hospitality.
Driven by the desire to provide genuine hospitality–for our guests and our employees–we offer a setting where people truly care about one another, and show it in everything they do. The high level of respect and enthusiasm that runs through our entire organization is evident in many ways, including the longevity of our staff and managers, some of whom have been with us for decades.

Espanol an Italian Restaurant in Sacramento - East Sacramento
Over Nine Decades of Excellence
The tradition and eating excellence at “The Espanol” began at 114 Jay Street in 1923. For several years “The Espanol” was a Basque boarding house owned by Castro Arrate and Victoriano Urratia. During those [+]first years, most of the tenants were sheephearders who hired out to local ranchers. It was during these years that Mamerto Fernandez became partner by buying out Mr. Urratia.
In the early 1930’s, Ancil Hoffman (the legendary Sacrament-an and manager of the late Max Baer) took over ownership of the building. Little by little outsiders were introduced to the boarders’ food and “The Espanol” became a favorite restaurant of many “Old Time” Sacrament-ans. [-] Categories:

Mulvaney's Building & Loan Sacramento CA, Midtown
Mulvaney's B&L brings handcrafted new American cuisine to your table. Our relationship with the food and where it comes from is the driving force of the way we do business. Our restaurant menu changes daily as we focus on the subtle changes [+]of the seasonal harvest of our local farms. As Patrick Mulvaney often says, “whatever comes in the front door goes on your plate.”
Our down to earth yet whimsical style is what makes us smile. Please come, sit and eat.
WHAT’S IN A NAME
In the movie It’s a Wonderful Life, George Bailey learns that his family business—Bailey Bros. Building & Loan—is more than a business. It’s the glue that holds the community together. We lovingly honor that notion by incorporating the Building & Loan name into our own as a way of embracing the community that has been so good to us.
WHO WE ARE
Mulvaney’s B&L is many things. We’re a restaurant that specializes in hand-crafted New American cuisine, a farm-to-table devotee that celebrates the efforts of the growers, ranchers, brewers and winemakers who are our neighbors, purveyors and friends.
Set in a historic 1893 firehouse, with its original brick walls and soaring ceilings, Mulvaney’s B&L is also a nexus of Sacramento: a place where we serve up impeccable and creative fare (our menu changes daily in step with the local growing seasons), and facilitate the connections of the guests we love to host.
Our “wonderful old B&L” is the brainchild – no, the passion – of owners Patrick and Bobbin Mulvaney, who bring more than a half century and six time zones’ worth of experience to their mission. We strive to provide our guests with the best our region has to offer and a place to have their own culinary experience.
There was a time when Sacramento didn’t want to be an ag town. It has been nearly 20 years since the idea for Soil Born Farms was planted. Agriculture, as it has since the 1840’s, was booming in the Sacramento Valley. There were some early voices singing the virtues of our agricultural heritage to the growing population of city slickers back then.
Leadership at the Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op and Harald Hoven, the master gardener at Fair Oaks’ Rudolf Steiner College were raising consciousness on the value of urban gardens. And community garden advocates such as Sacramento’s Bill Maynard, the leadership at the Fair Oaks Horticulture Center and Mary Kimball at the nonprofit Center for Land Based Learning were spreading the gospel.
But not much of the “culture” of our agriculture was seeping into the rapidly expanding urban environment of Sacramento. In fact, it seemed there was a push regionally to shake off our “cow town” identity…

Our Green Promise
We see ourselves as stewards of the land we love and, in our small way, protectors of the future.
Our Green Promise isn’t a marketing campaign. It’s a description of the way we do business, which is a direct reflection of the way we live and the values we hold dear.
It starts with our purveyors. We choose to work with farmers, ranchers, and winemakers who tread lightly upon the earth.
It continues to the ingredients we use and how we use them. When we get a duck, we use it all—in numerous dishes. We use every part of the pig but the oink. We can’t even tolerate to see butter burned, since that would fail to honor the people who worked so hard to produce it.
We’re avid com-posters. Now that we use an anaerobic digest-er, we’re more than 99-percent landfill-free. Our waste used to fill three dumpsters a week; now it barely tops a five-gallon bucket.
All our wine bottles are recycled; the clear ones find a second life in the restaurant as water pitchers. Our cardboard is recycled. Our daily menus are printed on 100-percent post-consumer waste; they’re then re-used for in-house printing needs before they return to the recycling bin. The ashes from the grill, the grounds from drained espresso cups, and leftover table water all feed our garden.
Our to-go boxes are Bio-Pak. Our disposable service-ware is environmentally friendly; our disposable cutlery is made from a bamboo byproduct and the plates and cups derive from sugarcane. It’s all sustainable and biodegradable.
Our primary equipment-rental company uses a bio-fuel for its fleet and environmentally-conscious cleaning products for its dishes and laundry.
Our restaurant typically has a half-dozen bikes parked outside, including a “shop bike” we use for getting around downtown and midtown, to the bank, business meetings, and running staff or products to offsite events.

Kasbah Lounge a Middle Eastern Restaurant In Sacramento - Midtown
We believe food, drink and community go hand in hand.
Classic Middle Eastern and Mediterranean flavors & outdoor seating draw a unique mix of people, local and international alike, to this neighborhood standby.
History
Kasbah has been [+]an important source of late night entertainment since 2004. When Debbie Chang and Tanya Azar purchased the restaurant in 2016 (as employees of 14 and 13 years respectively), they made a concerted effort to turn this once “lounge” into a full-scale restaurant with an exceptional food and drink menu.
Kasbah is incredibly culturally diverse. On any given night, one can walk through the restaurant, and hear five or six different languages being spoken. Kasbah values its unique mix of old world and new world, hosting a meeting of cultures.
