Back then, there was a loud jukebox and a public telephone that hung over one of the tables. Sometimes the noise and heat were overwhelming, but that didn't stop the crowds that formed during the lunch hour.
Today, the restaurant continues to be operated by the second generation Husband and Wife team, Vicky & Jon. Every dish remains prepared by the very same recipes developed by Josephine Medina. Every day we are hard at work carrying the legacy of Oscar & Josephine. We welcome you to be apart of our family and invite you to join us at our relocated location near UCR.

Kasbah is incredibly culturally diverse. On any given night, one can walk through the restaurant, and hear five or six different languages being spoken. Kasbah values its unique mix of old world and new world, hosting a meeting of cultures.
Spending ample time working at the restaurant over the years, Debbie and Tanya have grown up at Kasbah, forming memories and relationships, with not only coworkers, but guests who have become like family. Sacramento has such a booming culinary scene, Debbie and Tanya feel honored when guests choose Kasbah. [-]

In 1969, Byron and Virginia Hardin began serving their AMAZING Burgers in San Diego. Hodad’s first location was on the beach, at the end of Santa Monica Ave., in Ocean [+]Beach.
In 1991, after several moves, Hodad’s opened at it’s present location on Ocean Beach’s main drag, Newport Avenue. In 2011 we opened our second location at 10th & Broadway in beautiful downtown San Diego.
We expanded into Petco Park in 2012, when we opened a seasonal spot for all of the San Diego Padres Baseball Fans. It’s been so popular, that space was eventually traded up for several concession locations throughout the park
We extend our thank you to the hungry fans that have made all of this possible.
Hodad’s is now in the hands of third generation family members, Shane & Lexi Hardin. They’re the adult children of the famous Burgermeister, Mike “Bossman†Hardin.
Mike was at the helm of this seaside burger joint when it rocketed to stardom. It was Mike’s heart that kept the whole team sane as they went from a local’s favorite shack to a relentlessly busy hub for Burger lovers from around the world. He was surfer, a businessman, a joker, a philosopher and great Dad. He was a friend to anyone whoever met him and did his best to make life better for America’s Military as a member of the MESS LORDS! [-]

Queen Sheba, a charming Ethiopian restaurant on Broadway @17th. Ethiopian food is [+]more communal than almost any other type of ethnic food. The hallmark of Ethiopian cuisine consists of sharing food on one giant plate and using enjera a spongy, sour, pliable flat bread to scoop up the various shared dishes. enjera is the common thread of almost every meal for Ethiopias middle and upper classes. Prepared much as it was 1,000 years ago, enjera is both an eating utensil and a palette for other foods to lie on. It lines the giant plate, soaking up the sauces and spices of the various dishes piled on top. The eating of this lining or table clothâ signifies that the meal is officially over, completing the communal Ethiopian dining experience. "Subscribers Choice Awards" Zion Taddese and her brother Eskinder opened Queen Sheba Restaurant on Howe Avenue in August of 2003 and have recently move their location to 1704 Broadway downtown Sacramento which is a larger restaurant that allows them to serve more customers. Together, the siblings offer friendly and attentive service along with spicy, flavorful dishes that follow the traditions of Ethiopian dining. You can enjoy, the famed honey wine, tej, which Ethiopians often make themselves, with a unique taste that complements the spices in the food. Combination plates on the menu, allow you to sample different dishes arranged symmetrically on a giant plate. Dishes such as Gomen, a dish of cooked spinach, collard greens, onions and garlic. Gomen may remind you of collards in soul-food cooking. Then experience, miser kik wot (wot meaning stew), a satisfying, mild-flavored dish made with lentils and spices. In the combination you will find two similar-tasting dishes, doro wot and gored gored. Doro wot is a popular dish with chicken leg and hard-boiled egg, served on a dark bed of simmered vegetables and spices. It has the color, consistency and heat of a fiery chili. Doro wot is of the chicken family, the gored gored has cubes of beef in a similar mixture, spiced in Ethiopian fashion, with berbere. Berbere, a mix of at least a dozen spices, including paprika, ginger, cardamom, hot chilies and turmeric, giving Ethiopian foods their distinct flavors.
In addition to these we have many Vegetarian and Vegan dishes for you to enjoy. You'll end your dining experience eating the large table cloth Enjera, which is soaked with the sauces and spices of the various dishes. Finish with coffee, coffee drinking has a great significance in Ethiopia. Ceremonial in nature, beans are freshly roasted, ground and brewed and then served in tiny cups with sugar but no milk. In 1992 Entrepreneur Sushma Taneja stepped into Passage to India Restaurant a small 80-seat restaurant in Mountain View, California. The restaurant had already been operating for three years and had a bleak future ahead. Sushma had always been open to challenges and this had been no different than the many [+]challenges she had faced previously in business. Sushma began her mission by introducing her own recipes and then slowly started changing all the rules of the Indian Restaurant industry. With her hard work and determination she soon brought success to her business. In fact, due to the growing popularity of Passage to India the restaurant had to move across the street to a much larger location.Over the years Sushma has turned this blink of an eye restaurant into one of the bay areas best Indian Restaurants. Passage to India has received accolades from: Mountain View Voice, San Jose Mercury, San Francisco Chronicle, Zagat Survey etc. The name Passage to India has come to be known as one that signifies a certain standard of quality and integrity that Sushma has bestowed upon it.Sushma decided that her next venture would be a restaurant. She was a brilliant cook to say the least. All those cooking classes had paid off. Not only had she learned just about all types of Indian cooking, she was so fond of experimenting in the kitchen that she had come up with her own special recipes too. Over the years Starting from Calcutta, her friends would ask her to teach them how to cook and ask her for recipes. Before Sushma took over Passage to India, there weren't very many Indian Restaurants in the Bay Area. And of the ones that were here, the cuisine was a little Americanized. For these reasons, Sushma wanted to open an Indian restaurant with completely authentic Indian cuisine. With ideas in her head Sushma took over the existing Passage to India Restaurant in 1992. Finally, Sushma had found a business that gave her satisfaction. It once again rekindled the passion within her that had been lost for a while after closing her factory in Calcutta. Today Sushma is not just a successful Entrepreneur, but at that a successful woman who in these many years has always managed to balance her work and family beautifully and come out ahead. In addition to Passage to India she has also started an Indian Bakery which is yet to flourish under her guidance. In spite of all this, whenever she does have a little time to herself Sushma uses it to catch up on her herbal studies. She is very fond of herbal medicine and has used it to cure herself, family and friends. This interest come from her background of being a BSC Botany honors from Miranda house Delhi University.Even though Sushma has achieved a lot of success in the past years she still does not plan on looking back. She still wants to take her business as far as it can go. Her ambitions like her determination have no end. Her work is her life and her life is her existence.
